Prevention of structural damage by Calenberg elastomeric bearings

The brief

Constant loads (e.g. the inherent weight of the structure), variable impacts (e.g. wind) and restraints (e.g. due to temperature changes, creep, component tolerances or subsidence) cause deformations of the structure.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Without the use of suitable elastomeric bearings, these impacts will cause damage to the structure. In addition to cracks and spalling, it can also lead to large-scale destruction of the adjacent components, which then require renovation at a considerable time and financial expense.

The solution

Structural bearings apply high loads centrally to the adjacent components, while at the same time absorbing large rotations. Displacements are transmitted according to plan by Calenberg slide bearings. The low friction values allow for intricate and cost-effective construction. If correctly dimensioned and installed, Calenberg elastomeric bearings require no maintenance and also do not need to be replaced. The service life of the structural bearing is at least equal to the service life of the adjacent components. Calenberg elastomeric bearings increase the value of the building, since damage to the building is avoided and renovation and maintenance costs are eliminated.

Calenberg structural bearings must transfer forces, distortions and displacements to the adjacent building components permanently and without damage. Compressive stresses of up to 25 N/mm² (25 MPa) can be transmitted.
